Ethnic Studies Associate in Arts
Ethnic Studies is a dynamic academic discipline and community that provides an understanding of the history, culture, and contributions of African Americans, Asian Americans, Latino/a/x Americans, Middle Eastern Americans, and Native Americans. Courses introduce students to the concepts of race and ethnicity, how race and ethnicity intersect with other forms of identity, and the role of power and inequality in the United States. It is an interdisciplinary degree, drawing from the arts, English, history, humanities, Kumeyaay studies, political science, sociology, and others.
