TOTAL UNITS REQUIRED FOR CERTIFICATE 0 INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY The Certificate of Competency in Interpersonal Communication prepares students who have a low-intermediate background in English with the language skills required to function at a high-intermediate level in a variety of vocational and academic situations. The program focuses particularly on the acquisition of grammar, reading, writing and speaking skills needed to function independently at work, school and in the community. Students who complete this program should be able to: 1. Demonstrate listening and speaking skills needed to communicate at work, at school, and in the community using studied materials, vocabulary, and grammar. 2.
