HUM 032 — explores cinema as a 20th-century art form, inviting students to view and analyze historically and artistically

signicant lms. e course covers the artistic and technical aspects of lmmaking, the business and history of the lm industry, and the close analysis of lms from various genres. Students will examine broad questions of form and content, aesthetics and meaning, and history and culture through a diverse range of productions and lm movements. Topics include modes of production, visual design, editing, sound, genre, ideology, and critical analysis as well as representations of race/ethnicity, gender, class, sexual orientation, and ability.
