HUM 032 — explores cinema as a 20th-century art form, inviting students to view and analyze historically and artistically
signicant lms. e course covers the artistic and technical aspects of lmmaking, the business and history of the lm industry, and the close analysis of lms from various genres. Students will examine broad questions of form and content, aesthetics and meaning, and history and culture through a diverse range of productions and lm movements. Topics include modes of production, visual design, editing, sound, genre, ideology, and critical analysis as well as representations of race/ethnicity, gender, class, sexual orientation, and ability.
