ASL 001 — covers the beginning fundamental principles of American Sign Language a visual/spatial language used by Deaf
people in the United States and Canada. ASL introduces basic information and cultural/ historical background about the Deaf community and Deaf culture. is course is recommended for students who encounter Deaf people in their working environment, or who are majoring in American Sign Language/Deaf Studies. ASL 001 is as a prerequisite for students who wish to enter an Interpreter Preparation Program. Students are expected to attend outside Deaf events at their own expense.
