The Phlebotomy Technologist (PBT) is a laboratory professional that performs venipuncture and dermal puncture on patients. The majority of diagnostic medical decisions are based on laboratory test results, emphasizing the critical role of the phlebotomy professional. Other duties may include computer entry, Point of Care testing, Quality Control on CLINITEK and POC instruments, microscope and centrifuge cleaning, CLIA waived category testing including Occult Blood and Urine Chemical, bacterial culture set-up, and collection of drug screens and genetic screens .
