WS V30 — Advanced Water Treatment for Potable Reuse

3 credits · 3 hours

This course examines the use of advanced treatment technologies in the potable reuse of wastewaters; specifically, reverse osmosis (RO) and ultraviolet light with advanced oxidation processes (UV-AOP). State and federal regulations on indirect and direct potable reuse of wastewaters set the foundation for the course. Information on RO and UV-AOPs theory followed by operational parameters, integrity testing, trouble-shooting, standard cleaning practices, and maintenance requirements will be studied. The required calculations that support the monitoring of these technologies will be presented and practiced with data from live systems. This material assists in preparation for AWTO Grade 3 Certificate examination given in partnership by the American Water Works Association California-Nevada Section and the California Water Environment Association.
