DANC V27B — Street Dance II

This course builds on techniques and skills learned in Street Dance I. The class will examine/explore/investigate beginning level II concepts in the street dance styles of hip-hop, pop and lock, hip-hop funk, freestyling, break dancing, as well as an examination of the music, syncopations, and rhythms utilized in commercial and street dance performance spaces. Emphasis will be placed on the refinement of technique, the introduction of new movement, and the development of heightened technical skills learned in Street dance I. Students will develop beginning level II flexibility, strength, control, coordination, endurance, style, and an understanding and appreciation of the cultural historical significance of street dance.
