Add to Bookmarks Was HHPS 4382. Designed to increase knowledge and understanding of the importance of cultural competence in health education and community health promotion. Focus will be on culturally appropriate communication, health literacy, health disparities, and effective strategies in planning, implementing, and evaluating culturally appropriate health education programs. Self-assessments and participation in cultural engagement activities will be encouraged to increase cultural competency. Graduate students, in addition, will be required to develop an innovative cultural competency model or activity. Responsibilities of a certified health education specialist will be addressed. Dual listed in the Graduate Catalog as HHPS 5382.
