Presentation of the knowledge and skills necessary to become certified as a Mental Health Peace Officer. Includes Mental Health Peace Officer duties and training, mental disorders, indicators of mental illness, understanding mental illness, handling a person in acute phase of mental illness, the law and liability issues, documentation, safety and assessment, intervention in high and low risk situations. Satisfies requirements for Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Course #4201 certification as a mental health officer. 2.4 CEUs.
