NURS2326 — Mental Health Nursing Clinic
2 Credit Hour(s) This course focuses on nursing interventions for mental health-psychiatric care in a variety of clinical practice environments. Critical thinking skills are utilized through the application of the nursing process and therapeutic communication skills to support clients’ adaptive responses to internal and external stressors along the mental health continuum. The concepts of holistic man, therapeutic use of self, and self and cultural awareness are emphasized. Students focus on clients’ behavior, growth and development in meeting their basic needs. This is a half-semester course. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
