3 Credit Hour(s) An introduction to the various investments instruments available: equities (stock), debt (bonds, mortgage-backed), investment companies (mutual funds), and derivatives (futures, options, indexes). Includes an examination of the mechanics of the marketplace and the various sources and types of financial information. There will be a discussion of fundamental and technical analysis. Also, the student will be introduced to the basics of international investing and portfolio management theory. Students should check course recommendations with the college or university to which they intend to transfer for a baccalaureate degree. The receiving institution always makes the final decision about transferability of credits.
