No credit. Lecture 18 hours. Develops students' critical reading and thinking skills and promotes critical consciousness, active citizenship, and fair-minded practices. Teaches students to identify authors' common means of persuasion. Promotes in-depth inquiry for exploring controversies surrounding one or more contentious topics. [ND]
