ACC120 — Financial Accounting

The primary focus of the course concentrates on the introduction to financial accounting and the application of accounting theory, standards, principles, and procedures used to solve accounting problems. The fundamental rationale on the various aspects of financial accounting information is discussed, as well as how decision-makers use information from general-purpose financial statements to make business decisions related to operations, financial health, and cashflow. Students will also be introduced to the application of data analytics to accounting and business problems using accounting scenarios. Finally, the course introduces various types of data analytic tools used to analyze historical sales data to predict future trends, identify fraudulent activity through anomaly detection in transactions, and improve efficiency through automated auditing.
