Emphasis is placed on representing the student’s potential as an artist in order to interest employers, clients or schools. PRINCIPLES OF BIOLOGY I 4 cr. hrs., Lec. 3, Lab. 1 This is an introductory course for both science and non-science majors. It covers physical, chemical, and biological principles common to all organisms. These principles are explained through the study of cell structure and function, cellular reproduction, ba- sic biochemistry, cell energetics, the process of pho- tosynthesis, and Mendelian and molecular genetics. Also included are the scientific method, basic princi- ples of evolution, and an overview of the diversity of life. A 120-minute laboratory per week is required. Prerequisite: None. Code A. PRINCIPLES OF BIOLOGY II 4 cr. hrs., Lec. 3, Lab. 1 This introductory course synthesizes basic ecolog - ical and evolutionary relationships while surveying plant, fungi, and animal diversity, comparing classi - fication, morphology, physiology, and reproduction.
