Examines how the human senses transform stimulus patterns of physical energy into the neural codes that become our perceptions of the world. Vision, audition, smell, taste, touch, balance, and phenomena common to all sensory modalities, such as feature enhancement, inhibition, adaptation, and stages of neural coding will be studied.
