FTWO 121 — S-230 CREW BOSS

Grading: Pass/No Pass Option Note: While any student can take this course, for National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) or California Incident Command Certification System (CICCS) certification, the student must meet a complex set of prior training, prior certification, field trainee assignments, previous education requirements and current employee's recommendations for certification (as stated in the NWCG 310 -1 standards, and/or the CICCS Qualification Guide). These documents change frequently. Students shall ensure that they meet the current certification standards for this course if they desire to receive a course completion certificate. A copy of NWCG 310-1 and CICCS Qualification Guide can be found in the Fire Technology Program office, at the NWCG web site (nwcg.gov), or the CICCS web site (caloes.ca.gov). Class Hours: 27 lecture total This is a classroom course designed to produce student proficiency in the performance of duties associated with the single resource boss position from initial dispatch through demobilization to the home unit. Topics include operational leadership, preparation and mobilization, assignment preparation, risk management, entrapment avoidance, safety and tactics, offline duties, demobilization, and post-incident responsibilities.
