ENG 203 — Poetry 3 Hours

By reading, discussing, and writing about poetry, students will encounter a wide range of poetic forms; learn the terminology that identifies elements of poetry (meter, rhyme, imagery, etc.); recognize their own roles as readers in experiencing the literary meaning, form, and value of poems; research how 2026 - 2027 69 Courses poetsâ lives and diverse cultural surroundings influence and are revealed in their poetry; and explore various approaches to literary criticism. Prerequisite: Suitable scores on the current English placement test for placing in ENG 101 or grade of C or higher in ENG 099.
