ART122 — Modern Art 3 Hours

This is a continuation of Renaissance through Romantic Art. The historical development of the visual arts painting drawing printmaking sculpture and architecture in Western society focusing on major artistic styles and movements. Examines works of art as expressions of the ideas and beliefs of artists within their cultural and social contexts. Slide lectures covering the major movements in Modern societies from Realism through worldwide Contemporary Art. This course is a one of a three part series of courses ART 120 121 122 intended to fulfill the art history requirements for the art major but is also a general education fine arts course.
