CSIS 3353 — Cyber Law and the Legal System

This course examines the legal system's response to cybercrime, focusing on adapting traditional legal principles to digital misconduct. Students will study law enforcement's role and limitations, security vs. privacy tensions, global cybercrime challenges, state actor threats, and the impact of government regulation on cybersecurity. Through practical case studies, students will gain cybersecurity literacy and understand common cybercrimes and ethical obligations, and learn how to assist clients in meeting legal responsibilities and responding to cybersecurity incidents.
