FOR 18 — Remote Sensing & Geographic Information Systems
This course will cover interpretation and use of aerial photographs, remote sensing, and of geographic information systems (GIS) as they relate to natural resources, and will include photo scale calculations, point location, locating datasets and photographs, and field verification of vegetation/conditions. Additionally, questions pertaining to natural resource issues will be addressed through analyzing, creating, displaying, and modeling feature data (i.e. soils, topography, vegetative cover, etc.) using geographic information systems (GIS). This course will also cover the fundamentals of using ESRI ArcGIS software in GIS applications. Field trips may be required in this course.
