COMM 2 — Interpersonal Communication

The study of interpersonal communication will empower students, through the development of self-concept and identity, to gain lifelong social, psychological, and physiological skills that can be applied across contexts and relationships. Students will learn the importance of communication, active listening, deciphering verbal and nonverbal communication, and the power of language, culture, perception, and emotions in relationships. Many interpersonal theories will be studied so the student can develop a basic understanding and skill set for navigating romantic, platonic, family, and professional relationships with communication competence, interpersonal skills, and pragmatic theoretical application. This course also offers methods for resolving conflicts, toxic relationships, and the termination of relationships.
