PHI 2600 - Ethics PHI 2600 - Ethics 3 hours Lecture, 3 credits Lower-Division College Credit AA Elective: Yes This course applies critical thinking to major philosophical theories regarding the nature of morality, especially theories from the Western canon of philosophy. Students are exposed to prominent philosophical positions regarding such questions as: Is morality subjective? Should one always act to most benefit oneself? Is morality about producing as much happiness as possible for the world as a whole? Is it always wrong to treat a person as mere means to a desired outcome? The primary focus will be on major philosophical theories from the Western canon that address these and related questions about morality. This course is also in Honors format.
