MEDIA 176 — Lighting for Theater and Live Events

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of lighting equipment, design and operation for live events, including concerts, theater performances, corporate events, and other live productions. Students will learn about the role of lighting in creating mood and supporting the overall narrative or atmosphere of an event. Topics covered include the basic principles of light, types of lighting fixtures, control systems, lighting design concepts, and hands-on techniques for setting up and operating lighting systems. Students will gain practical experience in programming and operating lighting consoles, as well as working with different types of lighting equipment. This class may include students from multiple sections. This class has a $20 media course fee.
