COMM 1003 - Film Arts COMM 1003 - Film Arts Description Film Arts is a transferable Humanities/Fine Arts course in American film, concentrating on the evolution of film and its ideology from the late 1800s to the present. The course is designed to increase students’ understanding of film as an art form and to develop critical analysis skills necessary to interpret mediated information. Students can write clear, coherent, well-organized documents, which are substantially free of errors Standard Practices Topics List Cinematic history events from 1800s to present which influenced film, genres, basic film production concepts Learning Activities Students will analyze and discuss technical, historical, and ideological theories concerning films and visual media. Knowledge of film terminology should be demonstrated and the ability to apply that knowledge in essays, projects, or presentations. Assessments A minimum of 3 analytical papers One group project Grading guidelines Papers may be assessed using the standard scoring rubric. Quizzes and exams may be scored in Canvas.
