NUR1209 — Nursing Process II
9 Credits Nursing Process II focuses on clinical decision-making and the delivery of safe, patient-centered care in medical-surgical settings with adult and gerontological patients. Building on concepts from previous courses, students will apply the nursing process and current evidence-based practice to promote, maintain, and restore health across diverse patient populations. Course content and clinical experiences emphasize the integration of disease processes, physiological changes, behavioral health, and nutritional needs in the acute care, medical-surgical, rehabilitation and behavioral health settings. Students further develop therapeutic communication skills, self-awareness, and professionalism, with attention to legal and ethical considerations, team collaboration, and quality and safety in care delivery. Learning experiences are provided in classroom, laboratory, inpatient and outpatient settings. Morning, afternoon, evening, and/or weekend clinical hours may be required. Clinicals take place either off campus at an affiliated healthcare facility or on campus in the simulation center. A medication calculation test will be administered, and students must achieve a minimum score of 90% to pass the course.
