5 Credits Prepares the advanced graphic design student to enter the profession by focusing on business practices such as portfolio, preparation, starting a design business, successful freelancing and pricing, strategies for landing design jobs, professional relationships, fees and contracts, managing large projects, copyright, trademark and ethical issues. Students will also be placed in a working environment to gain on-the-job experience. Students will also be responsible for creating a final, independent, directed study in an area that combines personal creativity and professional ambition. (PLO 1, 2, 3) Conduct professional graphic design business practices (PLO 8) Demonstrate proficiency in communication, presentation, and business skills necessary to engage in professional practice in graphic design (PLO 1, 8) Demonstrate ability to form and defend aesthetic judgments about graphic design products and to communicate ideas and concepts to professionals related to the practice (PLO 7, 8) Exhibit professional work practices in a design related internship (PLO 8)
