CIS- 21 — Introduction to Operating Systems

Description: An introduction to operating system design concepts, the role the central processing unit plays in a computer, and the evolution of moderns operating systems. Learners will have access to modern Windows desktop, Windows Server, Linux and macOS operating systems and look at the history and evolution of Operating systems and computing in general. This will prepare students for more advanced courses in operating systems, networking, system security, and programming by providing fundamental knowledge, skills and abilities around operating systems that are applicable across Computer Information Systems and Computer Science coursework. 54.00 hours lecture and 18.00 hours laboratory. (TBA Option) (Letter grade or Pass/No Pass option)
