Introduction to first responder training: Patient assessment, ventilation and airway obstruction, circulation and CPR; illness and injury emergencies such as poisoning and substance abuse, behavioral emergencies, bleeding and soft tissue and muscle and bone injuries; childbirth, children, and geriatric emergencies; lifting and moving individuals; EMS operations, extrication and rescue operations; legal and ethical issues confronting the first responder; communications and documentation; and stress response and well-being of the first responder.
