HIST29 — History of California
<b><font color="7A0018">Begins Fall 2025</b></font><br> This course is a survey of the early history of California through to the present, starting with the original peoples of California, the discovery and settlement of the area by the Spanish, the Mexican period, American conquest and occupation, and the gold rush. The course also examines topics including the economic, social, cultural, and political consequences of railroad expansion, and early twentieth-century urbanization. It also includes the impact of the Great Depression and World War II, water projects, protest and reform movements of the 1960's, the rise of conservatism and recent political trends.
