CDIS61 — Constitutional Convention
The Articles of Confederation were a disaster – a nation where individual states had all of the power did not work well. Two gifted statesmen – Alexander Hamilton and James Madison – decided that a new governing framework was needed and arranged for a meeting of all states that we look back on as the Constitutional Convention. Once that convention produced a new document these same two men (aided by John Jay) became "Publius” and published the Federalist Papers to convince our infant nation that this new document should be ratified. This two-part course tells this story.
