Includes history, organization, financing, and delivery of health care services within a variety of settings. Explores the roles of a health information professional, an introduction to legal aspects of insurance billing and the role of the State Insurance Commission. Covers information on the generic components of the content, structure, collection, maintenance, and dissemination of health care data and how these components relate to record systems and documentation standards. Minimum grade of C. Lecture: 3.0 credits (45 contact hours).
