Designed to complement classroom learning, this learning experience offers students the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world veterinary settings. Under the guidance of experienced veterinary professionals, participants will gain practical skills in animal care, medical procedures, and client interaction. Through a structured and immersive experience, students will enhance their clinical competencies, develop teamwork and communication skills, and gain insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of a veterinary nurse. This externship serves as a valuable bridge between academic study and professional practice, preparing aspiring veterinary nurses for a successful and fulfilling career in the veterinary healthcare industry. In this particular externship, students will focus on the tasks and skills needed in the examination rooms and outpatient diagnostic procedures such as history taking, educating clients, vaccine preparation, venipuncture, diagnostic specimen collection and handling, cytology, and fecal analysis. This also includes tasks performed by veterinary receptionists and practice management. Students will document their experience and gain deeper understanding through weekly reflection papers and class
