The course also introduces students to historical reasoning skills. IVC Details: This course is a study of the history of the United States from the Civil War to the present. The survey will focus on the major themes, ideas, attitudes, institutions, and elements that are part of the American national development from the mid-19th century to the present. Special emphasis will be given to national recovery and the victory of industrialization after the war, domestic reformism from the Populists and the Progressives to the New Deal, international relations from overseas expansion to involvement in world wars, and shifting foreign and domestic patterns from World War II to the present.
