WELD136 — Gas Metal Arc Welding MIG III
1.0 HR. (OC) Prerequisite: WELD 131 with a grade of C or better or department approval. This course is designed to advance the knowledge and skill of the experienced production welder by developing proficiency in the safe operation of advanced semi-automatic arc welding processes. A review of solid wire gas metal arc welding (GMAW) welding, gas shielded flux cored (FCAW-G), self shielded flux cored welding (FCAW-S), weld surfacing, oxy-fuel cutting and arc cutting to meet commercial quality standards and AWS standards for welding on structural grade steels and pipe will be included in the course. The course will include variety of wire diameters, wire alloys, transfer modes, and materials. Three lab hours per week.
