3.0 HR. (TC) Prerequisite: Approved reading placement score, or equivalent. This course traces the history of the United States from the end of Reconstruction to the present. Topics include western expansion and the impact on the frontier; the growth and development of an industrial economy; responses to industrialization; reform and the meaning of American democracy; the United States and World War I; the 1920s, the Depression and the New Deal; World War II; and the United States since 1945.
