DACT211 — Counseling and Human Change

3.0 HR. (OC) Prerequisite: DACT 113 and department approval. This course introduces the student to basic models of counseling in drug and alcohol treatment. Topics of discussion will include the disease model of addiction, the acquired hedonic cost habituation syndrome model, behavioral approaches, cognitive approaches and eclectic combinations based on client need. Three lecture hours per week.
