3.0 HR. (TC) Prerequisite: CRJ 225 with a grade of C or better or department approval. This course provides an opportunity for students to understand that the United States Constitution provides rights for individuals and expectations for police, prosecutors and the courts when a person is suspected to have committed, pursued, arrested and prosecuted for a crime in the courts. The course is designed to allow students an opportunity to learn and apply important legal principles applicable to civil rights and criminal procedure, including but not limited to use of force; arrest; search and seizure; self-incrimination and right to counsel. Three lecture hours per week.
