CCMA130 — Lab Procedures Med Asst
2.0 HR. (OC) This course incorporates basic clinical and laboratory procedures in the medical office necessary for the medical assistant. Students incorporate cognitive knowledge in the performance of the psychomotor and affective competencies required for the profession. Emphasis is placed on enhancing competence in clinical and laboratory skills necessary for comprehensive patient care and strengthening professional communications and interactions. This course presents topics including an introduction to laboratory testing, microbiology, and disease, including CLIA-waived tests, phlebotomy/venipuncture, principles of pharmacology, dosage calculations, medication administration, physical therapy, and nutrition and health. One lecture and two laboratory hours per week.
