NURS 109 — Basic Nursing Assistant

is designed to prepare the student for bedside care of non-critical patients under the supervision of an RN or LPN. Clinical experience is in a nursing home and includes physical and social rehabilitation of the aged. Emphasis is placed on how and why of basic procedures relative to patient care. Communication skills and the understanding of the individual patient are stressed. Disease conditions most frequently encountered in hospital and nursing homes with related nursing care are included. Course content is offereed in 80 hours of theory and 40 hours of clinical.
