NURS 253A — Work-Study Externship

A work-study course authorized by the California Board of Registered Nursing in which a Grossmont College nursing student is employed by or volunteers at a clinical site with clinical facilities that have an established affiliation agreement with the Nursing Program. The clinical site supports the objectives of the course and provides supervision through RN mentors and preceptors. The student applies previously acquired nursing theory and clinical skills in the management of patient care. The college instructor and practice site mentors meet periodically to evaluate progress towards meeting objectives. This course is offered on a Pass/No Pass basis only and may be taken three times. This is an elective course in the Nursing Program. 162 hours paid or unpaid work experience per semester. Nursing students may not enroll in this class without a faculty sponsor.
