HIST 120 — F African Civilizations to 1880 3 Units
54 hours lecture per term. This course is a survey of African History from the earliest human inhabitants of the continent through the beginnings of European colonization in the 1870s. Emphasis is placed on providing students with a broad presentation of the geographical features of the continent and its connections to the rest of the world, cultural, political, economic and social institutions, slavery, European conquest and colonization, and African resistance to colonization.
