CDES 207 — F Principles and Techniques of Early Childhood Special Education with Field Experience 3 Units

54 hours lecture per term. This course is designed for those who are or will be working with groups of young children. Identifying the teacher's role in early diagnosis, using IEP's (Individual Education Plans), working with specialists, and working with families are discussed. Teaching techniques, appropriate teaching goals, and curriculum adaptations are emphasized in relation to all the federally recognized categories of special education. Specific behavior management techniques and the importance of environmental adaptations for effective programs are included. Full inclusion policies and natural environments are discussed.
