PHIL 701 — Topics in Medical Ethics
In this class, students will be conducting an intensive investigation of one or two topics or ethical issues that arise in the practice of medicine. The topics covered will be announced each semester the course is offered and can include issues such as equity in access to healthcare, informed consent, rights to privacy, medical issues in gender identity, paternalism, pandemic ethics, reproductive technologies, contested therapies, the sale of human organs, physician-patient relationship, race and medical care, autonomy, and research ethics. This is an upper-division general education course. This course is only open to students enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at Fresno City College. (CSU)
