DH 729 — Capstone 1: Teaching Theory in a Dental Hygiene Program
This course is designed to utilize instructional didactic theories and their practical application to contemporary issues in dental hygiene. Using the process of care standard, methodologies are presented through the topics of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation as the framework used for delivering comprehensive and effective dental hygiene care. Critical thinking is used to create an evidence-based course module. Using integrative course design, the construction of dental hygiene teaching instruments to provide functional methodology for the operation of an effective dental hygiene classroom are included. The completion of a capstone project will be utilized to establish a cohesive operational didactic module, where students will demonstrate competency in creating essential dental hygiene teaching, assessment, and evaluation resources.
