AFRAM 41 — African-American Women's Studies
This course analyzes the social, political, and cultural history of African American women in US society from an interdisciplinary perspective through lectures, discussions, films and other collaborative activities. This course will analyze the complex ways that ethnicity, class and gender have shaped African American women’s lives and the strategies they have used to empower themselves and their communities within and in comparison to structures of white supremacy and patriarchy and the intersections of socialization, familial relationships, history, art, language, politics, laws, economics, health, psychology, domestic violence, rape, sexuality, and gender.
