AJ 111 — Juvenile Law and Procedures 3 Units

Students examine the history and legal structure of the U.S. Juvenile Justice System. Theories of juvenile delinquency, the function and jurisdiction of juvenile justice agencies, common juvenile statutes, and juvenile court procedures are explored. Emphasis on the role of law enforcement, probation, schools, resources, and parents/guardians to address juvenile delinquency are considered, as well as the rights of juveniles, constitutional cases, and juvenile victimization.
