This course provides an in-depth exploration of music in Western culture from the Classical period to the present day. It covers major composers, musical trends, and both art music and popular music traditions. The course spans Classical period (1750-1820), the Romantic period (1820-1900), and music of the 20th century. Through listening and analysis, students will explore how music reflects and responds to the cultural, societal, and political environments of its time.
