This course is an intermediate level college photography course designed to instruct the student in the fundamentals of controlling and modifying light. The student will explore artificial lighting in a controlled studio environment and on-location. Over the course of the semester, the student will explore aesthetic and conceptual use of artificial lighting in photography from both historical and contemporary models of thinking about the medium. Emphasis will be placed on using the photographic tools for personal expression, cultural observation and developing the student's individual artistic voice.
