This course explores the use of hand building and wheel throwing techniques in pottery making. Students will use a variety of techniques in ceramic forming, surface decoration, glazing and firing. (1.1) Special Note: This course involves the use of specialized equipment and materials that may be hazardous, including clay dust (silica), glazes containing metal oxides, and high-temperature kilns. Some equipment and shared studio spaces may also involve intermittent loud noises. Students are required to follow all safety protocols, complete safety training, and use appropriate protective equipment at all times. Individuals with sensitivities to dust, chemicals, or the physical demands of studio work should carefully consider these requirements before enrolling. Proficiency Credit Available (2 EFIS) Pass/No Credit Available.
