HIMT 2213 - Medical Coding and Billing Practicum Add to Personal Catalog HIMT 2213 - Medical Coding and Billing Practicum **Not Part of a Tennessee Transfer Pathway** Sp - Online Students will engage in exercises that simulate the daily responsibilities of coding professionals in healthcare settings. The curriculum emphasizes the use of industry-standard coding systems, such as ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II, alongside billing processes and claims management. (This course has a course fee for AAPC Practicode). (This course should be taken in the student’s last semester). Note: This course is designed as a simulation. However, a request to complete a portion of the practicum at the healthcare facility will be considered. The student should request placement at a healthcare facility at least 6 weeks before the course begins. Note: Students enrolled in the professional practice experience at a health care facility will be subject to a criminal background check and a drug screen required by most clinical facilities for assurance of patient safety. Based on the results of the criminal background check and drug screen, an affiliated clinical site may deny a student’s presence at their facility. Many healthcare facilities will not hire individuals with adverse background checks and/or drugs screens. Students enrolled in professional practice courses or practicum courses that attend a healthcare facility may be required to provide proof of current immunizations as well as a negat
